Yes, it's playable, with results around 60fps on both PC and Mac. As of November 5, 2026, official Eden builds still don't support this Switch 2 exclusive. On PC, a test build of Eden's unmerged draft PR #4588 gets into gameplay at a steady 60fps on Linux (RX 9070 + Ryzen 5 9600X), and the unofficial fork Eden-NS2 (not affiliated with the Eden team; archived on November 3) also lists a stable 60fps in its own notes. The unofficial fork Eglantine has fixed a lot in the past few days: build 158 restored shadows, the reticle, and steam effects, and it also fixed white outdoor fog on AMD GPUs under Windows and washed-out colors; a tester on an RTX 4070 with Linux says it plays fine. The earlier bug where ink didn't land on paintable ground and ink swimming failed hasn't come back for its reporter (Linux, RTX 4070 Ti Super) across several restarts since build 158. Still open: on Linux with an RX 7600 XT, opening the ink tank upgrade menu freezes the game; on build 212 particle effects suddenly blow up to fill the screen and a dark gray box sits in front of characters during dialogue (the box was fixed on November 5), and a user says v0.1.0-rc1 (November 4) performs worse overall. The developer said on November 5 that the AMD bug where the screen goes fully black as soon as you move in Accurate mode is fixed. The author of the Orchid fork reports 30fps on Linux. PokeDinner is very slow in docked mode on a GTX 1080 with a yellow tint, and its HDR is broken. On Mac, the native port tool nxnative (not an emulator: it turns the game into a native app, and it is only officially tested on Mac) added this game on November 2; its game page reports a median frame time of about 16.6-16.9ms (about 60fps) on an M4 Pro, up to 22ms in heavier scenes, and admits it doesn't hold 60fps everywhere; a user on an M5 with an older build hit a GPU address fault that froze the picture about 4 minutes in, near the end of the first tutorial. The game needs more memory than iOS allows, so there is no iPhone build. There are no Android reports.
Settings & known issues
- What runs it is unofficial code and a native port tool, separate from Eden's releases; official Eden releases and nightlies don't support it.
- A shader cache left over from Eglantine build 142 makes shadows and the reticle disappear; from build 158 these caches are thrown out automatically (the first launch recompiles).
- Ink not landing on paintable ground and ink swimming not working (issue #324): the reporter hasn't seen it since moving to build 158 (efa7c19), so update if you're still on builds 120-131.
- On AMD, the screen goes fully black as soon as you move in Accurate mode (Eglantine #96); the developer said on Nov 5 it's fixed and recommends Fast going forward.
- With the CPU on Unsafe, some surfaces can't be inked or swum in (#551); the developer said on Nov 5 it's fixed and a push is coming, and until then turning off "Faster FSQRTE and FRECPE" under Unsafe helps.
- The overly bright picture (#133) has been fine since build 177; only Vulkan is supported, not OpenGL (developer, #255).
- Eglantine v0.1.0-rc1 (Nov 4) has several user reports of slower performance; build 212 is a safer choice for now.
- PokeDinner 2.1.0a fixed the text boxes and tutorial black screen, but HDR is broken (release notes).
- The 109fps counter in the private build shown on Oct 28 was unlocked and says nothing about real performance.
