Fake Switch Emulator Sites and Scams: How to Spot Them (Official Sites List)
Key points
- Official sites: Eden is eden-emu.dev, Ryubing is ryujinx.app, MeloNX is melonx.org, Citron Neo is citron-neo.org, nxnative is nxnative.dev, NxEmu is nxemu.com.
- ryubing.org, ryujinx-emulator.com, edenemulators.com, melonx-emu.org and uzuy.org are not official. Their info is often outdated or wrong.
- Every legitimate Switch emulator is free and open source. None charges a subscription, asks for a survey unlock code, or bundles games and keys.
- Egg NS and DamonSwitch are closed-source paid Android shells accused of copying yuzu and Skyline code in violation of the GPL.
- As of October 30, 2026, no working Switch 2 emulator exists, so every Switch 2 emulator download is a scam.

The fastest way to spot a fake Switch emulator site is to know the real ones: Eden is eden-emu.dev, Ryubing (the continuation of Ryujinx) is ryujinx.app, MeloNX is melonx.org, Citron Neo is citron-neo.org, nxnative is nxnative.dev, and NxEmu is nxemu.com. Many of the "official download" results you'll find in search are third-party sites posing as these projects. One more rule covers most scams: legitimate Switch emulators are free and open source. They never charge, never ask you to fill in a survey, and never bundle games or keys. Anything that wants money, an "unlock code," or offers a "game pack" is fake.
The lists below were checked on October 30, 2026.
Official sites
| Emulator | Official site | Status (Oct 30, 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Eden | eden-emu.dev | Active; default pick on PC and Android. Not on the Play Store or F-Droid |
| Ryubing (Ryujinx continuation) | ryujinx.app | Maintenance-only since February 2026. The site calls itself "Ryujinx" |
| MeloNX (iPhone / iPad) | melonx.org | Active. Not on the App Store; it has to be sideloaded |
| Citron Neo | citron-neo.org | Active; the successor to the original Citron |
| nxnative | nxnative.dev | Active; a native-port tool, not an emulator |
| NxEmu | nxemu.com | Active; stable builds on Windows |
| Ryulynx | ryulynx.org | Still in preparation with zero releases, so any "Ryulynx download" is fake |
| Kenji-NX, Astris | No standalone site | Released only on code-hosting platforms. Any site claiming to be their "official site" isn't |
Whenever we mention downloads, our advice is the same: get it from the official site.
When the official site is down
After Nintendo had many projects' GitHub release pages removed in 2026, legitimate projects moved to their own servers, which are sometimes unreliable. Eden's blog says that on April 16, 2026, the day Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream launched, its servers pushed 2.5 TB in four hours and were reachable only 15% of the time over 24 hours. Boiling Steam also noted in October that Ryubing was hard to download for a while. If an official site is down, wait and try again later. Don't go searching for "mirrors" or "alternate downloads." Impostor sites thrive exactly when official channels are shaky.
Dead projects: anything using their name is unofficial
- Yuzu shut down after its March 2024 settlement with Nintendo, and the
yuzu-emu.orgdomain was handed to Nintendo. Any site offering "the latest yuzu" is not official. - Ryujinx (the original) ended development on October 1, 2024, and
ryujinx.orgis closed. - The original Citron stopped on February 16, 2026. Its site, repos and Discord all disappeared, and
citron-emu.orgnow loads a blank page. Citron Neo took over. - Sudachi ended development in August 2025. Its site,
sudachi.emuplace.app, now shows a discontinuation notice. - Uzuy was Citron's name before October 2024. Today's
uzuy.org-style sites have nothing to do with the project.
Known impostor domains (listed as text, not linked)
| Domain | Posing as | Notes |
|---|---|---|
ryubing.org, ryubing.com, ryubing.dev | Ryubing | Look like SEO download sites with thin content |
ryujinx-emulator.com, ryujinxdownload.com, ryujinx.io | Ryujinx / Ryubing | Third-party download sites |
edenemulators.com | Eden | Third-party; spreads wrong info (for example, that Turnip works on Mali, when Turnip only supports Qualcomm Adreno) |
melonx-emu.org | MeloNX | Third-party |
uzuy.org | Uzuy / Citron | Unrelated to the original project |
kenji-nx.com | Kenji-NX | Third-party |
playwithyuzu.com, eggnsemulator.net | Yuzu, Egg NS | Read like SEO or AI-generated content, with many wrong dates and version numbers |
nxnative.org | nxnative | Describes itself as an "unofficial guide" and runs ads |
What these sites have in common: domains stuffed with "emulator," "download" or "official"; version numbers that don't match the real project (many claim Eden has a v0.2.2, which doesn't exist; the stable release as of October 30 is v0.2.1); and download buttons that bounce through several ad pages.
Paid shells: Egg NS and DamonSwitch
Egg NS and DamonSwitch are closed-source, paid Android "Switch emulators." Emulation General Wiki says they copied yuzu and Skyline code in violation of the GPL and charged a monthly fee for touch controls. We don't recommend them. Real yuzu-family and Ryujinx-family emulators are free and open source. Licenses like the GPL let anyone fork them but require publishing the source, so a closed, paid "Switch emulator" is a red flag on its own.
The survey unlock-code scam: old, still around
When the Switch launched in 2017, fake Switch emulators spread fast enough that the US Federal Trade Commission issued a warning. Those "emulators" either sent you to a survey to get an "unlock code" for software that didn't exist, or installed unwanted programs, claimed your computer had problems and asked you to pay for fixes, or stole information like credit card numbers. The FTC's advice still holds:
- Don't download unknown programs that claim to be Switch emulators.
- A survey for an "unlock code" is always a scam.
- Keep your security software on and updating automatically.
Impostor repos on GitHub
GitHub is full of keyword-stuffed repos with names like "Ryujinx-Project" or "Yuzu Emulator PC 2026." Some bundle malware and ask you to run them as administrator. Ryubing's own docs warn that only official channels are safe. Nintendo spent 2026 taking down emulator repos on GitHub, and most legitimate projects have moved to their own servers, so a brand-new "official build" on GitHub is more suspicious, not less.
Switch 2 emulator scams
As of October 30, 2026, no public Switch 2 emulator can run commercial games (see Switch 2 emulator status). So "Switch 2 emulator download," "Switch 2 emulator APK" and "play Switch 2 online" can only be scams. A common trick is passing off footage of a Switch 1 emulator or real hardware as Switch 2 emulation, then steering you to pay or install malware.
"All-in-one packs" and file-sharing bundles
Emulator bundles that pack the emulator together with keys, firmware and games are common on file-sharing sites, and you have no way of knowing what else is inside. Get emulators from official sites only.
On iPhone, MeloNX's recommended route is sideloading with your own Apple ID (tools like Impactor or SideStore). Paid "signing services" are not an official channel. See the iPhone / iPad guide.
Checklist before you click download
- Does the domain match the official sites table above?
- Does it ask you to pay, subscribe, take a survey or watch ads for an "unlock code"? Then it's fake.
- Does it bundle games, keys or firmware? Real emulators never do.
- Do the version number and release date match the official project?
- Does it state its open-source license and where the code lives? Closed, paid "Switch emulators" are almost always shells.
- Does the installer ask you to disable your antivirus or run as administrator?
- Does it call itself a Switch 2 emulator? As of October 2026, that alone tells you it's fake.
If you already fell for one
- Uninstall the program and run a full scan with up-to-date security software.
- If you entered a password on the site, change it right away and turn on two-factor authentication. If you paid, contact your payment provider.
- Reinstall only from the official sites listed above.
FAQ

The original Ryujinx shut down on October 1, 2024, and ryujinx.org is gone. The community continuation, Ryubing, lives at ryujinx.app. ryubing.org, ryubing.com, ryujinx-emulator.com and ryujinxdownload.com are not official.
What is the official Eden emulator website?
eden-emu.dev. edenemulators.com is not official and spreads wrong information, such as claiming Turnip drivers work on Mali GPUs. Eden is also not on the Play Store or F-Droid.
Is Egg NS safe to use?
We don't recommend it. Egg NS and DamonSwitch are closed-source paid Android apps. Emulation General Wiki says they copied yuzu and Skyline code in violation of the GPL and charged monthly fees for touch controls.
Is there a real Switch 2 emulator download?
No. As of October 30, 2026, no public Switch 2 emulator runs commercial games. Anything offering one is a scam.
I installed a sketchy emulator. What now?
Uninstall it and run a full scan with up-to-date security software. If you entered passwords or paid on that site, change the passwords and contact your payment provider. Then reinstall only from the official site.
