Key points

  • Kenji-NX is a Ryujinx fork that works closely with the Ryubing team, keeps a UI closer to the original Ryujinx, and stands out for its Android build.
  • As of October 2026: desktop 2.0.5 (2025-10-06) and Android 2.1.0-pr.2 (2026-02-13). No newer releases since.
  • Nintendo's February 2026 DMCA notice named Kenji-NX, its GitHub Android release repo was blocked, and automated builds are paused.
  • On Android it performs best on high-end chips like the Snapdragon 8 Elite; on other chips Eden is usually the better choice.
  • Sites like kenji-nx.com are not run by the developer. Watch out for fake download pages.

Kenji-NX is a Ryujinx fork maintained by KeatonTheBot, with an interface close to the original and, most notably, an Android build. As of October 2026 it still works, but development has slowed: desktop 2.0.5 (2025-10-06), Android 2.1.0-pr.2 (2026-02-13), nothing newer, and downloads have been hit by DMCA notices. New users are better off with Eden on Android and Eden or Ryubing on PC.

Origins: between Ryubing and the original

Several forks appeared after Ryujinx stopped in October 2024. Emulation General Wiki describes Kenji-NX and Ryubing as working closely together and sharing most changes. Kenji-NX aims to stay closer to the original Ryujinx interface philosophy, and it adds Android builds.

The Android version is what made Kenji-NX known. Android Authority reported in June 2025 that it is based on the original Android branch from the first Ryujinx developers. Ryujinx had an internal Android port that was never released when the project shut down. Kenji-NX first appeared on Android around May 2025, and 2.0.4 in June 2025 was its first major update.

Status as of October 2026

  • Desktop: 2.0.5 (2025-10-06) for Windows x64/arm64, Linux x64/arm64 and a macOS universal build.
  • Android: 2.1.0-pr.2 (2026-02-13), still a pre-release. It ships in five chip-specific builds, including one for Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 / 8 Elite and one for Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 with SVE/SVE2, plus Vulkan tweaks for Adreno 6xx/7xx. There is no official record of a final 2.1.0 release.
  • Builds and downloads: the project notes say automated builds are paused and builds are uploaded manually. Boiling Steam reported on 2026-10-16 that the site still exists but downloads are disabled.
  • Legal pressure: Nintendo's 2026-02-12 DMCA notice to GitHub named Kenji-NX, and its GitHub Android release repository was blocked on 2026-02-17.
  • What's next: KeatonTheBot also contributes to Ryulynx, a new Ryujinx fork created in August 2026 with no releases as of October. Whether it will replace Kenji-NX has not been announced.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • One of the few Ryujinx-based Android builds. Its accuracy-first approach runs some games better than yuzu-based emulators.
  • Chip-specific builds tuned for recent Snapdragon chips.
  • Familiar interface for longtime Ryujinx users.

Cons

  • Slow updates: a year without a desktop release, Android stuck on a pre-release.
  • Restricted downloads and paused automated builds.
  • Usually weaker than Eden on mid-range and non-Snapdragon phones.

Beware of fake sites

Sites like kenji-nx.com are not run by the developer, and their version information is often wrong. Any "official Kenji-NX download" you find circulating online is third-party and may be modified. Don't install it. See how to spot fake emulator sites.

FAQ

Is Kenji-NX still being updated?

Updates have slowed sharply. As of October 2026 the last desktop release is 2.0.5 (2025-10-06) and the last Android release is the 2.1.0-pr.2 pre-release (2026-02-13). The project notes say automated builds are paused in favor of manual uploads.

Does Kenji-NX Android still work?

An installed copy keeps working, but more fixes may not come. Boiling Steam reported on 2026-10-16 that the site is still up but downloads are disabled. New Android users should start with Eden.

Kenji-NX vs Ryubing: what's the difference?

Both are Ryujinx forks and share most changes. Ryubing is the direct desktop continuation. Kenji-NX sticks closer to the original Ryujinx interface and also ships for Android.

No lawsuit. It was named in Nintendo's 2026-02-12 DMCA notice to GitHub, and its GitHub Android release repository was blocked on 2026-02-17.

Which Kenji-NX Android build should I pick?

2.1.0-pr.2 comes in five builds: Standard, Optimized, Legacy (older Armv8-A chips), one for Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 / 8 Elite, and one for Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 with SVE/SVE2 enabled.
