Yes, it's playable, and Mac and iPhone are currently ahead of PC. As of November 5, 2026, official Eden builds still don't support this Switch 2 exclusive. On Mac, the native port tool nxnative (not an emulator: it turns the game into a native app, and it is only officially tested on Mac) rates it at 60fps on an M4 Pro on its game page, with the game itself dropping to 30fps in busy scenes; users report 60fps on an M1 Pro MacBook Pro with occasional dips to 26-28fps and mostly 30fps past the Hilltop Layer on a 16GB MacBook Air M5, and there are also reports of the 3D view turning into a block grid and GPU hangs. On an iPhone 18 Pro, a user played nxnative for 9 minutes without a crash, at 60fps for the first few minutes and 45-60fps once it heated up; an iPad Pro M4 user reports a steady 30fps or so after a while (50-60fps with pipeline prebuilding on), and an iPhone 17 drops to 13-15fps after reaching Ingot Isle. On PC it relies on unofficial Eden forks (not affiliated with the Eden team): Eglantine build 205 (November 4) fixed the purple screen, freezes, and rubberbanding, but on build 212 RTX 5070 and RTX 5090 users still crash 30 seconds to a minute after loading a save, AMD GPUs on Windows crash on entering 3D scenes (a contributor says the causes have been found and one is fixed), and v0.1.0-rc1 on November 4 has reports of slowing down overall. On the Lichii fork, build 70 has a report of about 57fps before the process exits after two minutes, the authors of Aubépine and Orchid say it plays at about 28-30fps, and PokeDinner has a report of 60fps when not looking at the character and 25fps when facing ahead of it. On Android, the developer of Banana Native (a community Android port of nxnative, unrelated to the official nxnative project and to nx2android) reports 52-58fps at 1080p in performance mode on a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 phone, with texture problems in some cave fights; the same developer's Eden SX2A stopped updating on November 2.
Settings & known issues
- nxnative only accepts game update v458752.
- Eglantine build 167 fixed error 2111-3604 that quit the game after the intro video.
- Eglantine build 205 (Nov 4) fixed the purple screen, freezes, and rubberbanding, at the cost of frame time in the mines rising from about 19ms to 30ms while it holds 60fps elsewhere (release notes); build 212 still has reports of crashing 30 seconds to a minute after loading a save (#514).
- On Windows, AMD RX 5700/6000/7000 cards crash in the driver on entering 3D scenes (#511, #536); a contributor said on Nov 4 that two causes were found and one is already fixed in the code, and the reporter says only the PokeDinner fork works.
- Eglantine v0.1.0-rc1 (Nov 4) has several user reports of slower performance; build 212 is a safer choice for now.
- Eden's official Switch 2 test PR #4588 was still an unmerged draft as of Nov 3, 2026, and Eden's lead said only about 40% of its code is useful; a second draft PR, #4611, was closed on Nov 1.
- Destructible terrain is invisible on AMD GPUs (per Eden-NS2's own notes; that fork was archived on Nov 3).
- What runs it are unofficial forks and a native port tool, unrelated to the Eden team; official Eden releases and nightlies don't support it.
