Can You Play GTA 6 on PC? Emulators, Streaming and the PC Release Date

No. As of 2026-11-01, GTA 6 is not out yet. It launches on 2026-11-19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, Rockstar has not announced a PC version, and no emulator can run it. There is no mobile version, and every "GTA 6 PC download" is fake. Today the only legitimate way to play on a PC or phone is to stream from your own console with Remote Play, or wait for an official PC release.

Where GTA 6 is coming out

The date has moved twice. It was first set for fall 2025. On 2025-05-02 Rockstar moved it to 2026-05-26, and on 2025-11-06 to 2026-11-19. There has been no further delay announced since.

When is GTA 6 coming to PC?

There is no official date. What we know:

• Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said in May 2026 that Rockstar has historically launched on console first to serve its core audience, while acknowledging that PC can be a large share of sales for big games.
• The Verge reported on 2026-10-13, citing GamesBeat and "four industry sources familiar with the studio's plans," that the PC version will launch in Q1 2027. Rockstar and Take-Two have not confirmed this.
• For reference, GTA V reached PC more than a year and a half after its console launch.

So the honest answer to "GTA 6 PC release date" is: no official date, with early 2027 as the most optimistic report.

Why emulators cannot run GTA 6

PS5 emulation is still very early. SharpEmu and KytyPS5 only went public in July 2026, and AnyPS5 followed in September. As of November they reliably play indie games. Big releases only get in-game, with low frame rates, broken graphics and crashes. Details are in PS5 emulator status.

Look at the PS5 version of GTA V. The PS5 version of GTA V came out in 2022 as an enhanced version of a 2013 game. Its emulator progress so far:

GTA V is not playable yet. GTA 6 is a current-generation-only game, and what holds emulators back is exactly the hardest part: translating GPU commands and shaders. The background is in PS4 vs PS5 emulation explained.

How to play on a PC or phone today

Remote Play means your console runs the game and sends the picture to your PC or phone, so image quality and latency depend on your network.

Scams to watch for

GTA 6 draws huge attention, and scammers follow it:

• Fake "demo" and "early access" sites. In August, Malwarebytes found sites impersonating Rockstar that used the hype around an extended GTA 6 trailer to push a "Play Now" download. The program steals saved browser passwords, cookies and login sessions. Rockstar has never released a GTA 6 demo.
• 100GB+ "GTA 6 PC" installers. Huntress analyzed files pushed up search results through SEO poisoning that carried remote access trojans, info stealers and ransomware, then showed fake "license not found" messages to buy time.
• Fake PS5 emulators. In October, NordVPN found GitHub repositories impersonating KytyPS5 and AnyPS5. Their downloads add Windows Defender exclusions and then install a password stealer.
• "GTA 6 mobile" and "GTA 6 APK". There is no mobile version.

Short version: until Rockstar announces a PC version, anything offering a free GTA 6 download or a way to play it on a PC or phone is fake. More warning signs are in how to spot fake PS5 emulators and fake GTA 6 PC versions. The latest on the game itself is on the GTA 6 game page.

Rockstar games you can already emulate

If you just want a Rockstar open world on your PC, the PS4 emulator shadPS4 runs the PS4 version of Red Dead Redemption, which its README lists as a working example. See the best PS4 emulator in 2026.
